Levi Kinsel's Personality

                                                           Levi Kinsel’s Personality.

In the mid-1940s communication was not as accessible as it it’s in today’s society. As in this generation we can communicate with someone in two minutes by, via text message or other resource, however back in the day people used letters. Can you imagine how hard it was to communicate with your love ones, and you would have to save your words for days.  Levi Kinsel was a USA Navy machinist mate that sent letters to his wife Rose B. Kinsel during World War 2. When reading the letters that our teacher provided in U.S History class. I came to a conclusion that Levi Kinsel, had a personality that made him a caring, busy, and unhealthy man.
Levi Kinsel was a caring person that took time to write to his wife. He considered an important part of his life to be informed of his wife and, be aware of what was happening when he wasn’t there. In the letter 38 the second paragraph Levi demonstrates how much he cares for his wife telling her, “How are you feeling? And how is your cough and cold I hope you can get something done for your hands. I sure don’t want you to be feeling bad.” With the quote we see that Levi knows what is happening with Rose and is concern of her health issues. Another example of Levi being caring is in letter  34 April 6 1994, in the first paragraph were he states, “I don’t see why you are doing all that hard work or so much of it all at once I was glad you had the house painted, but you should have waited and had someone do it.” With the quote I analyzed that Levi didn’t like the idea of his wife doing hard work, takes consideration of her health and the hard work she has done.
Not only was Levi Kinsel a caring person but, he was a busy man as well. Levi was in the U.S Navy force where he traveled all the time he didn’t have a permanent place. In letter 38 Portsmouth, Virginia second paragraph, Levi demonstrates his busy duties by stating, “I went through Arizona, N.M, CO, Kansas, Missouri, III., Ohio, and VA, I was relay all the way through Colorado. About 50 miles and went through Raton at 2:30 A.M.” Levi was a man that traveled almost every day from place to place due to the fact that he worked overseas. Another example of Levi being busy is in page 52 Levi tells his wife the schedule he had in is work, “I understand now that we leave here in a few days go to sea for a few days operation and, then head for New York stay there a week on 10 days and, then out again for a few more days then Boston and, Philly, then back here after that I don’t know.” With all the trips Kinsel had, he had to be moving from place to place and, be aware of what was happening.
Levi Kinsel was a physical unhealthy man that was always sick or injured. Traveling overseas and having climate changed affected his health. In letter 21 January 24, 1942 Levi explains to his wife the incident he had, “I woke up this morning about 3o’clock and I just barely made the toilet in time and I am still going about every hour an half sweetheart.” In some letters I occasionally I observed that he had health issues that lead him to feel ill. He had various times where Levi had to stay in bed, for example in letter 30 first paragraph he states, “I have a pretty sore finger on my right hand now I was sharpening the butcher’s  knife and cut it and, got infected." Not only did he have infections but, also had colds that prevented him from going to work. An example of his sickness is in the letter 32 first paragraph where Levi briefly tells Rose how he felt during the day, “I caught another cold and felt pretty bad sat so stayed out of wards and took some pills.”  Levi had many health issues that caused him to become ill during his work environment.
By analyzing the letters that Levi Kinsel sent to Rose I came to conclusion that Levi was a caring, busy, and unhealthy man due to the evidence that I found in the letters. Levi was a man that cared about his wife and, wrote to her when he had time. He not only told her about what was happening with him but, also asked her in the letters how she was doing and considered her health when Rose was sick. Another character trait that Levi had was a busy man that didn’t stop, he went from place to place. With the trips that Levi had it caused him to be an unhealthy man as well. Levi had certain health complications that made him feel really sick making him stay in. With all the letters that Levi Kinsel wrote I learned some characteristics of his  personality that, I could of never pictured in my mind. Kinsel was a man that was considerate of his wife that cared for her every time he wrote to Rose.
